While there isn’t a universal “official” gift letter form, the sample provided includes all the key elements needed to meet most investor and agency guidelines. As long as it clearly states the donor’s name, relationship, amount of the gift, and confirms no repayment is expected, it will satisfy underwriting requirements in most cases. Make sure the amount of the transfer matches the gift letter amount exactly. Last, be sure all parties sign and date it to keep your file clean and compliant.
